VCS is proud to announce that Dr. Charles Zacharias, Dr. Charles Phillips, and Dr. James Garnett have been approved to perform the TAVR procedure.
This revolutionary treatment is the first of its kind in Central Virginia. Until TAVR, the only way to get a new heart valve was to have open heart surgery. Now that has changed as patients undergo aortic valve replacement through a small incision in the skin. The TAVR procedure may not be used on all patients, but for the appropriate patient, it offers a minimally invasive treatment which allows for better outcomes and quicker patient recovery.
